- Hey guys, this is Austin. Today, we're going to find out how not to buy yourself a gaming PC. After years of doing custom builds I have one question. Is it possible to get a decent gaming PC from a big-box store?
This is an area we've checked out before. A few months ago, we picked up a $750 pre-built system from CyberPower that actually wasn't bad. But this time, we wanted to step up the challenge. What would happen when we walk into a store with $600 and asked to see what they have? - Um, so I'm kind of looking for a, like, gaming PC for around $600. - This is Ken. He usually lives behind the camera, but today he has a mission. - Immediately, the salesman offers him a $750 CyberPower PC http://centericearena.net/ultimate-100-bedroom-gaming-battlestation/. You know, the one we just did a video on, and definitely not inside the $600 budget. Soon, however, another option comes up. - Oh that's, that's really good. People must really like it. Okay. - Oh wow. Okay. Do you mind if I call my dad first? - Sure - Cool. Dad, AMD FX-4300, eight gigs of RAM, one terabyte, 7200 RPM hard drive, RX 460 - $450? - $450. - That's not crazy for $450, but it's not really good. - Dad doesn't approve. Okay, let's uh, I guess we'll keep looking then. See if he was my real dad he'd get me a GTX 1080 Ti. Do you want anything? - One Starbucks excursion later, Ken was on to another big-box PC store where the halls were filled with promise. Well, if you looked hard enough at least. - Oh really. - Oh well yeah, I'd imagine. Let me actually call my dad first. Core i3-6100T 8 gigs of RAM, 1 terabyte hard drive, GTX 750 Ti. - 750 Ti? - Yeah, for $449. - That is really old system. 750Ti is like three generations old. - That's what I thought. - See that's not crazy terrible for $450, it's not going to be very good though. - Are there any other alternatives? - Yeah so, originally it was $700, and I think he's going to take off like 30 or 40 bucks because it's a floor model. So the graphics card is basically worth more than half of the price of this computer. I'm like, that's actually not a bad deal. - All right, that actually doesn't look bad. So, HP Pavilion, you can see the Core i5 sticker, - Yep. - What's the deal? - So, this is an HP Pavilion something something something something. - (laughs) Sounds about right. - A really long name. It has a Core i5, RX 480. - 480, okay. - Eight gigabytes of RAM. - Alright. - It has a 1 terabyte hard drive, with a 128 gig M.2 SSD. - Oooh. Okay. So how much was this? - It was $664. - That seems like a pretty good deal. So you said it's a 480, it's a Core i5. Is that Skylake, is that Kaby Lake? - Is that older? - Uh, 6400? - So Skylake. Okay. - Skylake, yeah. - So it's a little bit of an older system. Probably like a 2016. Why did you get a floor unit? - Because this was the only one that they had left. Because everyone, apparently, that was looking for-- - Oh, cryptominers. - Yeah. Everyone that was looking for those cards just swiped the computers for the cards. Probably just sold everything else. - This is a very small 480, it also has no branding on it, so I wonder who actually made the card. A 300 watt power supply! Well it's an 80PLUS bronze unit. 300 watts actually is, that's really low for a 480. Um, I bet it probably just barely works. Oh dude, there's a card reader and USB-C up front? - Wait, USB-C? - Yeah, right there. - Oh wow, I did not even see that, wow. - For like $660 this seems like a pretty good deal, I mean you've got wifi, you've got an SSD, you've got a solid graphics card. Congratulations, you successfully defeated the big-box stores. But, I actually want to see what we can actually do with this. I bet it's actually going to be pretty good at gaming. First test will be Rocket League.

And then there were four: Max, Roxy, Jim Jam and Dr. Bones. On the outside, four noble dogs. In here, the four best poker playing dogs in the world.
Hey everybody, welcome to the 2012 Canine World Series of Poker. I'm Gary Andrews. And I'm Lou Roberts, and we have a tremendous event here for you today: Four of the titans of the canine poker circuit casinoslots nz. Let's get right to it. The first hand is out, let's go to the Cardcam to take a quick look. Max starting off with pocket Jacks. Strong hand, Lou. Indeed. And then an interesting move by all the players to not look at their cards. Ooh, check out Roxy -- she's hopped off her chair and is now getting a drink from one of the complementary bowls. Roxy's been going to that red bowl an awful lot. What do you think's in there? Roxy has a deal with Cristal. She drinks it and they give it to her for free. Too rich for my blood, but boy can Roxy slurp that stuff down. It's quite a deal. How does that benefit them? And we're waiting for Jim-Jam to make the first bet. But I tell you what, he seems to be in no rush, smelling things -- is that a tactic that's common practice, Lou? Well, it can be. Getting your opponent to look at you smelling things often will get them off their own cards and their own game. Or he could just be interested in the smells of things. He is a dog. I've been there. What? How's Dr. Bones' hand looking? Whoa, things are not looking good for the good doctor, Lou. We're not getting a lot of game moves out there, but we are getting a lot of panting, drooling and the occasional barking. To be fair, that barking was in regards to a loud motorcycle that drove by earlier. It deserved it. Um hmm. Max, I'll tell you what, he maybe short on skill, but he is a good dog. Oh, look at him there now. He either wants a new card or perhaps a treat. Either way, give it to him! Right. Look at him laying down. Whoa, and there he pops up. Just when you think you know what he's gonna do, he surprises you. A sign of a good poker player. Um hmm, and a good woman. Ooh. He's jumping up, putting his paws on the table. There's someone who's very invested in the flop. He needs a good card and he knows it. Give me that flop card. My wife's gonna be pissed she's not here. Hello, Mr. Lemonis. - Hi, how are you, sir? - Great! Let me see what my room number- 2908. Yes sir and that villa is called Chateau and it has a French theme and it's got 3,400 square feet.
- How much? 3,400. This is the room? Yes, sir. Welcome to your Chateau Villa. Holy Moses This room's pretty awesome. Can we get a tour of the room tonight? Yes, please. This way. Ok. So right here's the master bedroom. What do you think this? This is cra- This is nicer than my house. This is crazy. My wife's gonna be pissed she's not here. Master bathroom here. Oh my goodness! That has steam and everything, yeah. Then we have a second bedroom. This is huge. You guys want to move in? Where's "The Hangover" suite? How many people asked you that? All the time. The rooms $3,400 a night but is it typically something that people can buy or is it really reserved for high rollers? If it's already blocked for high-end casino customers, then it's not gonna be available. But typically is that what the villas are used for? I would say typically, yes. Okay. 24-hour room service? 24-hour maid service. Yes. All night long, I'm gonna test. See if somebody- in I'm a 4 in the morning they get up to pee, I'm calling. I'm gonna get you. I'm gonna pick some food. Not gonna happen. Yes it is. Not gonna happen. I'm coming up with something. Hello, Marcus. Morning buddy. How are ya? Welcome to the Octavius Villas. Good to see ya. I want to see the biggest and the best. Well, that's why we're here in the Octavius Villa. So this is the newest tower at Caesar's Palace and this part of the billion dollars of capital that we spent over the last six years. Nice. And so these are the newest large-format villas that we have. So let's go ahead and take a look. Each of the villas have their own unique theme. It's one of the unique aspects of the villas at Caesar's Palace. So this is the Trajan Villa. It's one of six that are inside the Octavius Tower. Hi, sir. How how are you? And as great as the product is and you can see imported stone from around the world, barreled ceilings. What really makes staying in a room like this extraordinary, are these gentlemen. This isn't a room. This is- In this villa. How many square feet is this? This is about 10,000 square feet, three bedrooms. We have more than 65 butlers that will look after the guests that stay in this product. What this? A movie theater? So this is a media room. So each villa has a media room, exotic fish tanks, golf simulators. The amenities are impressive but it's really the service experience that makes this extraordinary. Almost 30% of the room lights for the villas are non-gaming customers. Now if we had this conversation 10 years ago, these were exclusively for gaming customers and we've become much more liberal with how we use these. And the demand for the villas from cash customers is surprising. And if they want to pay it why not take their money. Exactly, right. So this is a book that we leave out for those that those celebrities that stay with us. So this is Leonardo DiCaprio. Next page this is Anthony Bourdain. Bradley Cooper. so Bradley Cooper stayed in this villa Look how cool this is. There's a private valet entrance. So if you choose to remain private and not want to walk in the public spaces, we can accommodate that. Don't have to go through the casino. That's right. You can be dropped off and then just have access to these villa's. Out here is a private pool. You can either be in your private pool out here. And so can you go out right here? You can. So, if you walk through the gate there, then you have access to the Garden of the Gods Pool Complex. We have six pools. Each of them have a different atmosphere. The villas very sprawling. You can host a lot of groups here. So, you can have an 80 person party. There are a lot of uses for this outside of someone just using. It as a hospitality suite. Exactly. Okay. Exactly I decide to bet $175. He snaps call. I tell him I have 2 pair.
He shows Ace of King. Actually, I should haven't played his hand since I have 8 and 3 of Diamonds. I don't think it's a good hand. So, bear in mind to pick the right pre-flop cards. However, my today result is quite good, Even there's some mistake hands. But... everything is ok like usual. Go home. I get plus around $1,700 and a bit. I'm happy with the result as before. On this 4 June, I have a program to go to Vegas. I'll join a small tournament of WSOP. or World Series of Poker. So, I take the stuff out of my bag. Because I have to pack my bag before going to Vegas. So, I take this chance to record what I have in the bag. Let's see. First is headsets. They're so important firstly. But not the most importance. Because sometimes I use, sometime I don't. They're for listening to music and watch the clips if the games are very slowly. or for the time when we don't want people next to us to talk with. We just put on the headsets but don't need to turn on the music. I do it sometimes. Pens are normal things. and.... Power Bank, it's very important. My cellphone's battery power can't run out. That's the need of life. So, I have to energize my cellphone's battery all the time. Next Cigarettes I think... they're quite much important too. because I need them when I get stressed. If I got bad beat or suck out. which are expensive or when we don't play good. I come out to smoke. But one case takes a month for me or sometimes 2 months. I don't smoke much. I try to quit. It's hard to quit if you addict. If you don't addict, so don't. I quit smoking almost 10 years. I had addicted it around 15-16 years. Actually, if cigarettes didn't harm our health. I wouldn't quit smoking. I like it. Next is... Moment lens. I use it to record with iPhone. It makes pictures clear. And its lens is wider. I think it's cool! Next are... sunglasses. Sunglasses, If I play at MGM, I wear them. but if playing at MaryLand Live, I don't. Because the lights there are quite so bright. Eye Drops. This is so important. My eyes are quite dry. So, I often drop to my eyes. Battery charger as I told you I avoid to run out of cellphone's battery. Water. I beg from them there. I sometimes supply them. Sometimes, I go home before, so I have some bottles of water in my bag. But at MaryLand Live, we can't take water inside. At MGM, they don't quite check the bags at all. So, these are the stuff in my bag. All the stuff in my bag here The only one thing I can neglect is the moment lens. But the rest of them I can't. Very important for my life. Before I'm going, please press "Like" and share the videos, if you like. And don't forget to subscribe my channel. This Vegas Trip which is on June 4. I will have a new camera to try which is Black Magic, a camera I use to record my unpacking bag. I hope there will be beautiful pictures from Vegas for you guys. Lastly, the last hand I play for the last one for the tournament. I have Ace of King. meeting a pair of Jacks. 3 flop. I lose at the end and there is a bubble boy of tournament. That means I get 19th rank. Pay-out at 18th. The whole tournament consists of 139 players. But it's fine. That's normal for playing poker. See you next Episode. Good Bye... We’re back in Hello Games universe simulator because of the new Next update, which adds, well, too much stuff to mention. I’ve been fighting the elements for the last two days and thought i’d share some tips and tricks to really get things moving - we’ll be covering how to get ships for cheap, how to build up quick credits and what upgrades to prioritise - this will help you cut through earlier busy work and give you more toys to play with. As always, please do add your own wisdom in the comments and subscribe to the channel for a universe’s worth of PC gaming fun. And now, onwards... Before we get into the juicy stuff, I want to very quickly point out how to change the camera perspective on PC, because the game never explains how to do it. It’s kinda mad that the tutorial does teach you to turn bits of space rock into delicate starship apparatus, but won’t tell you how to look at your own back best website.
The option is hidden in the pop-up menu mapped to X - you scroll across to utilities on the far left and select toggle camera view. The game defaults to third-person, but first-person is good if you’re feeling nostalgic for getting right up in a Geck`s grill. You’ll have to set the option separately for starships, again by bringing up the pop-up menu, going to Utilities and selecting Switch Starship view. The amount of blood and sweat I’ve put into getting a new ship, you’re damn right I’m going to stare at its gorgeous, metallic backside. The game remembers which setting you’re using for ships and on-foot, so you can tailor it to your heart's content. The correct option, of course, is third-person, because why wouldn’t I want to look at a mad dude with a freaking ball of light for a head. Here’s another short, but sweet tip: did you know that using a melee attack quickly followed by the jetpack lets you interrupt the melee animation and shoot forwards with the jetpack. It looks like an intergalactic shoulder barge and looks like it would be very useful for pushing through down the aisle on a busy train carriage. Er, if No Man’s Sky ever procedurally generated one of those. The timing can be a bit fiddly to get right - you are almost hitting the two keys in tandem, but once you get the rhythm down it’s easy to replicate. This technique becomes even more useful if you upgrade your jetpack tanks for longer jumps. The quickest way to do this is to visit a Space Station and go to the three tech traders on the left-hand deck - the one of the far left sells Exosuit upgrades for Nanite Clusters, which you get for uploading discoveries you’ve scanned. The stock is different on every space ship you visit, but you want to buy a high grade movement module - the stats are randomised but the first one I bought gave me a 181% jetpack tank boost, which I installed and made travel a whole lot faster and fun. If I was to give you just one tip for getting a better foothold in the vast depths of space, it would be to invest in an improved Scanner Module as soon as you can. You can upgrade so many things in the game, but this one is a licence to print money, as it increases the number of credits you get when you scan undiscovered life. It basically turns every planet into piggy bank waiting to be smashed. The quickest way to get a new module is to visit the Technology Merchants in any Space Ship - the alien on the far right is the one that sells Multi-Tool upgrades. When you talk to him select Purchase Upgrade Modules - as mentioned before, these are bought with Nanite Clusters, so will need to have scanned and uploaded some data before hand. The merchant’s stock is randomised on each ship, but you are looking for an S-rank Scanner Module. Like this one. To install it you need a select it from your Exosuit inventory and press E to install. Title: 秋津温泉 (Akitsu Onsen) English Title: Akitsu Springs Released: 1962 Directed By: Yoshida Kiju Starring: Okada Mariko, Nagato Hiroyuki For me, probably even more memorable than this film was getting the chance to see Okada Mariko and Yoshida Kiju speak at the National Film Center after the movie while I was writing my essay about the film. “Watching myself at that time – I was 27 when this was filmed – brought back a lot of memories,” said the now 75 year old Mariko, who has starred in over 150 films, including Ozu’s An Autumn Afternoon. Akitsu Onsen is a mixture of multiple different Japanese stories; the two that I found the most immediate connections with are Dazai Osamu’s Villon’s Wife and Kawabata Yasunari’s Snow Country. As does Akitsu Onsen, the former of these stars a main character who loses himself to drink and the company of other women, all to the despair of the other main character, the woman who loves them. The latter, Snow Country, similarly casts an onsen geisha as the main protagonist and focuses on the inevitable loneliness and sadness bound to befall such a character. Shusaku (Nagato Hiroyuki) is a despairing boy, possibly running away from the war, and suffering from some kind of illness, and alcoholism. On a train, he meets Shinko, (Okada) who takes pity on him, and lets him stay at her mother’s onsen resort. Although he is sick and bedridden at first, Shinko falls in love with Shusaku. As he slowly recovers, Shusaku seems to return Shinko’s feelings, and they share what are probably their only moments of carefree, happy time together, in the movie. Some time passes and it becomes apparent that Shusaku has a problem with alcoholism. At this point, he confesses to Shinko that he has really come to Akitsu Onsen to die and even convinces her to kill herself with him. When the moment comes, however, Shinko, who never really intended to kill herself, manages to stop Shusaku by cracking a playful joke. The two end up laughing and Shusaku does not attempt to kill himself again. Shusaku and Shinko later, and as the years go by in the movie, recount this event as the time that she saved his life. He too, refers to her and Akitsu and giving him a reason to live. Nonetheless, Shusaku continues drinking and eventually leaves the onsen and Shinko. Only four years later, after he is married and has a child, does he come back to visit. Their initial reunion is exuberant and joyous, more so for Shinko, who has longed to see Shusaku again. However, some big changes have taken place with both characters. Shinko’s mother has died and she has inherited the onsen resort which effectively makes her unable to leave Akitsu. Time continues to pass and, in the greatest likeness to Snow Country, Shusaku continues to make occasional visits to the onsen, while feeling that his true obligations, or at least his reputation, lie with his wife and child in Tokyo. Thus, Shinko, who has never loved anyone else, is left with no hope and unable to leave the mountainous countryside where the resort is.
Eventually, however, the movie starts to differ greatly from both Villon’s Wife and Snow Country as Yoshida continues the story where Dazai and Kawabata left off. While many might find the seemingly abrupt, but natural, open ending of these two books to be their one of their greatest attributes, others might wish they had followed the characters to some kind of resolute ending. Yoshida certainly seems to fall into this latter camp with Akitsu Onsen as he leaves less up to the audience by completing the ending. In another sense, this differentiates his work from Dazai and Kawabata’s, in that it portrays the consequences of selfishly thinking only about one’s own feelings and desires. An interesting aside about this movie – it has the characters engage in, what can be called no less than action smoking. I would define action smoking as a scene which is constructed entirely around the character(s) doing nothing other than smoking a cigarette. A good example of action smoking occurs in a scene when Shinko runs away from the house after learning that Shusaku has left without saying anything. She runs down the road, crosses a small creek, throws her sandals, lays down on a block of concrete in the middle of the river bed, and then slowly, emphatically, and pleasurably, action smokes a cigarette. No time and detail are spared to express the point that this is exactly what the character wants to being doing at that moment. Another thing, apart from smoking, that happened a lot in this movie was the following sequence of events; Shinko becomes overwhelmed with emotions, then runs a short distance away and starts to cry. At this point, Shusaku chases after her, then says her name a couple of times while looking into her eyes. They hug and everything becomes ok; until, of course, the next time this happens all over again. I think this occurs about 10 or 11 times. Great imagery of the seasons passing in rural Japan, creative camera work, and especially Okada Mariko, all come together to make Akita Onsen a powerful watch. While it falls short of being truly comparable to Osamu’s Villon’s Wife or Kawabata’s Snow Country, it nonetheless remains a wonderful film and stands as yet another great testament to Yoshida Kiju’s legacy in Japanese film. |
